Problems to Watch for in Growing Children |
Because orthodontists can spot subtle problems
with jaw growth or teeth while a child still has primary, or “baby,”
teeth present, the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO)
recommends all children get a check-up with an orthodontic
specialist no later than age 7. Some problems are not so subtle, and
may be noticed by parents. To help educate parents about potential
orthodontic problems, the American Association of Orthodontists has
gathered examples in a short educational guide, Problems to Watch
for in Growing Children. Problems identified early permit the
orthodontist to recommend the appropriate treatment at the
appropriate time for the individual patient.
